This giclée print is a digital collage Inspired by these Quranic verses:
Whatever is in the heavens and earth exalts Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. [Quran, 57:1]
He has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. [Quran, 39:5]
[ ] He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein [ ] [Quran, 57:4]
This particular artwork consists of over 25 opaque and translucent layers of overlapping images, designs, textures, and colours. Layers include an adaptation of Gregory H. Reveras photograph of the near side of the full moon as seen from Earth’s northern hemisphere taken in Madison, Alabama, USA.
The collage layers also include a false-colour compilation of shots taken during the course of 841 orbits of the space telescope Hubble Ultra Deep Field – between 2003 and 2012. The composite contains roughly 10,000 galaxies in a vast variety of shapes and sizes. The layers create a sense of ethereal space, evoking a calm and contemplative mood.
The artwork is printed on environmentally mindful 290 gsm weight Hahnemühle Bamboo archival paper with high-quality inks, and is suitable for framing. Printed artwork dimensions are approximately 16 x 16 (square) with an additional 2? white border on all four sides.
The work is printed using museum quality, Fine Art Trade Guild approved Epson printers along with Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks. The paper selected and the inks used are archival quality and tests have shown colours last up to 70 to 80 years, and in some cases a lot longer.
